Value Stream Product Engineer-Electrical


Role Summary/Purpose

The Value Stream Product Engineer is viewed as the subject matter expert for electrical design form, fit, and functionality of the value streams products. The VSE demonstrates accountability for business objectives related to safety, quality, delivery, and cost of the electronics products in the value stream.

Essential Responsibilities

• Evaluation of products to ensure the product remains safe and any user interfacing with the product will remain safe at all times.

•Monitor the electronics product line (safety, quality, delivery, and cost) at all stages – new product releases, existing manufacturing, and customer material critical to the perception of the quality of future product—and coordinate Value Stream efforts to identify and implement solutions to highest impact issues

• Examine product assemblies, components, suppliers, and processes to improve performance or cost to drive competitive advantages for the business and/or increase margins without sacrificing quality. 

• Identify, develop, evaluate, and introduce engineering solutions to meet near term and long range business needs. 

• Lead and provide the key technical direction to large projects with critical business impact (SDP Projects). 

• Support other Value Streams, internal & external customers, and suppliers as required. 

• Provide technical consultation to cross-functional teams throughout the business to improve or resolve manufacturing, product line, supplier, or field issues

• Effectively communicate and provide recommendations through collection and  analysis, preparation and presentation of technical data to internal and external Dresser Utility Solutions customers. 

• Provide technical guidance, direction and training to new and experienced engineers, specialists, technicians and co-ops.

Qualifications/Requirements

 

 

 

 

• Bachelor of Science in Engineering, Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, or Computer Science from an accredited college or university

• Experience with electrical assemblies and PCB’s—troubleshooting, manufacturing, and improving through design engineer collaboration and technical specification interpretation

• At least 4 additional years of experience in an engineering capacity (2 years experience with advanced degrees)

Desired Characteristics

• Strong oral and written communication skills, proficiency with MS Office (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint)

• Strong interpersonal and multi-disciplinary leadership skills

• Demonstrated ability to document, plan, and execute programs that further the knowledge, understanding and capability of the business

• Demonstrated continuous improvement mindset and execution through standard problem solving methods.

• Extensive experience in low power battery operated systems and designs, rf low level interface control, wireless communication technologies.

• Strong C programming skills

• Exposure to and general understanding of programming in software and firmware

• Experienced and familiar with designing for natural gas application with working knowledge of various design and regulatory requirements (ANSI, EN, CSA, ATEX, IECEX, IEC, IEEE)

• Strong competency in Altium, ORCAD, and SPICE
