Vacuum Truck and Equipment Operator

Location: Bairoil, Wyoming
Department: Operations
Reports To: Operations Supervisor/Foreman
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Position Summary

The Vacuum Truck and Equipment Operator is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of vacuum trucks, water trucks, heavy equipment, and other field support equipment used in oil and gas production operations. This position supports production, maintenance, environmental, and facility activities by transporting fluids, cleaning tanks and containment areas, assisting with spill response, and performing general field operations. The operator is expected to maintain a strong commitment to safety, environmental stewardship, equipment care, and operational excellence.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Safely operate vacuum trucks, water trucks, skid steers, forklifts, loaders, and other assigned equipment.
• Transport and remove produced water, oil, sludge, drilling fluids, and other materials from production facilities and field locations.
• Perform tank cleanouts, pit cleanouts, containment cleaning, and facility maintenance activities.
• Assist with oil spill response, site remediation, and environmental compliance efforts.
• Load, unload, transfer, and dispose of fluids and waste materials in accordance with company procedures and regulatory requirements.
• Conduct pre-trip, post-trip, and daily inspections of vehicles and equipment.
• Complete required vehicle inspection reports, work orders, tickets, logs, and operational documentation.
• Monitor equipment performance and report deficiencies requiring maintenance or repair.
• Assist production and maintenance personnel with field projects and operational support activities.
• Operate pumps, hoses, valves, and vacuum systems safely and effectively.
• Maintain housekeeping standards at field facilities, tank batteries, compressor sites, and lease locations.
• Participate in emergency response activities as required.
• Adhere to all company safety policies, environmental regulations, and operating procedures.
• Attend required safety meetings, training sessions, and certifications.

Required Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a CDL if required.
• Minimum of one (1) year experience operating commercial vehicles, heavy equipment, or oilfield equipment preferred.
• Ability to work independently in remote field locations.
• Basic mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
• Ability to read, understand, and follow operating procedures and safety requirements.

Preferred Qualifications

• Class A or Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL).
• Tanker endorsement.
• Experience in oil and gas production operations.
• Experience operating vacuum trucks and fluid transfer equipment.
• HAZWOPER, First Aid/CPR, and H2S certifications.
• Experience with equipment maintenance and repair.

Physical Requirements

The employee regularly:

• Lifts and carries up to 50 pounds regularly and up to 75 pounds occasionally with assistance.
• Walks, stands, climbs, kneels, bends, stoops, and crawls throughout the workday.
• Works around moving equipment, production facilities, and uneven terrain.
• Climbs ladders and accesses elevated structures.
• Wears required personal protective equipment (PPE) including hard hat, safety glasses, steel-toed boots, gloves, FR clothing, and respiratory protection when required.
