Position Summary:
The Utility Technician is responsible for the maintenance of all pour barrels, jackets and hoists; housekeeping responsibility for PA room, pigment area and south dock including spills, debris and other items; coordinating with the Environmental Safety & Health Manager to maintain adherence to labeling and waste management processes and guidelines; assist Process Engineer with sieve analysis and other material testing.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Maintain pour barrels, keeping inside of barrels free of debris and mix build-up
- Maintain barrel jackets, keeping outside of jacket free of loose mix build-up
- Clean pour hooks so that they are free of mix build-up which can fall onto a mold
- Replace pour barrels in jackets as needed
- Make screens for pour barrels
- Inform Supervisor or Casting Manager of any issues with maintaining barrels
- Maintain cleanliness of PA room, pigment area and south dock areas including spills, debris and unneeded items
- Maintain safety labeling for Casting area including pigment barrels/buckets/pitchers per OSHA requirements
- Maintain 55 gallon mix scrap weight record
- Assist ESH Manager in waste management process for Casting department
- Assist Process Engineer with sieve analysis and other material testing as necessary
- Other duties as assigned to meet business needs
Qualifications/Requirements:
- Ability to demonstrate comprehension of positional work instructions
- Ability to work in a fast paced environment
- Capable of becoming forklift certified
- Able to work overtime including weekends
- Able to stand for minimum of 10 hours
- Lift minimum of 50 lbs
- Operate heavy machinery including air hammer
- Able to wear a full face respirator
- Must complete Durcon Waste Management Handling Training Program within 30 days of position assigment
Educational/Training/ Experience:
- Less than high school education
- Minimum 3 months work experience
