Job Overview:

Position: 

Utility Technician

Reports to: 

Production Manager / Production Control Manager 

Job Hours:

  • 7:00am-3:30pm shift, Mon-Fri.

  • Flexible to work extended hours as needed.

Job Summary:

The Utility Technician position's primary duties are to assist departments with prepping products according to correct manufacturing drawings and specifications.

Supervisory Responsibilities

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Prepping the exterior and interior of assemblies with various air tools and hand tools.

  • Protecting threaded holes with tape, plugs, or hardware before bead blasting.

  • Self

    -inspecting assemblies for damage or nonconforming conditions.

  • Masking and de-masking assemblies for painting purposes. 

  • Self-Inspecting paint finish and identifying potential cosmetic issues.

  • Pressure test assemblies to the print specifications and check for leaks. 

  • Assemble devices in accordance with company procedures.

  • Wrap and package assemblies for shipment.

  • Perform the final alcohol rinse/ clean as required. 

  • Maintain a safe, organized, and clean work environment.

  • Additional duties might be assigned.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Good interpersonal and communication skills.

  • Strong ability to follow written and prescribed work instructions/procedures and tasks.

  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical documents and drawings.

  • Excellent time management skills.

  • Attention to detail and thorough in completing work tasks.

  • Strong hand and eye coordination with the ability to perform precision work using various hand tools and techniques.

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

  • 1 year experience working in a manufacturing environment preferred.

Accountabilities:

  • Achieve deadlines (production, reporting).

  • Achieve quality standards within acceptable limits (first-pass yield).

  • Maintain a clean and safe working environment.

Physical Demands: 

  • Occasionally be required to push, pull and move objects up to 50 pounds.

  • Hearing, seeing ability to include depth perception, peripheral vision and rapid mental coordination. 

  • While performing the duties of the job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk and reach with hands and arms.

Work Environment:

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts and fumes or airborne particles.

  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

  • Workspace is not climate controlled.
