Job Title: Utility Relief / Translator (Bilingual)
Immediate Supervisor: Plant Manager
Job Type: Full-Time
Wage: $21.94/hr. increases after learning new roles within the plant
Shift: Mon-Fri 7am-3:30m (flexibility as need for translating needs)
Summary:
This position will play a crucial role in ensuring the successful onboarding, training, and development of new and existing Spanish speaking employees while also providing relief support across various production & packaging areas. The position requires proficiency in English and Spanish as well as a strong understanding of plant operations and safety standards. In addition, this position must understand the importance of confidentiality when performing translation duties.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities including but not limited to:
- Assist on-site HR with orientation & onboarding of Spanish speaking employees
- Assist and translate routine employee meetings; in addition to individual employee meetings that may include personal, disciplinary, and termination information.
- Provide comprehensive job and safety training programs for new and existing employees, ensuring that they understand their roles, safety procedures, SOPs/GMPs, and operational protocols.
- Assist in translating written training materials, manuals, and safety documents to ensure clear communication with bilingual staff members.
- Step in as a relief worker to support production areas and packaging lines during peak times, employee absences, or in the event of temporary shortages, ensuring smooth operations without compromising quality.
- Be able to perform multiple roles, including machine operation, quality control, packaging, assembly, or warehouse duties, as required.
- Be able to work a flexible schedule when bi-lingual duties are required
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications/Requirements:
- Fluent in both English and Spanish (spoken and written). Ability to translate and communicate effectively with a bilingual workforce.
- Previous experience in a manufacturing or production environment is preferred.
- Prior experience in training or mentoring employees in a factory or industrial setting is an asset.
- Ability to work in a physically demanding environment and handle the physical tasks associated with factory work.
- Strong ability to troubleshoot and resolve issues that may arise during training or when filling in as a relief worker.
- Ability to spot discrepancies, maintain quality standards, and ensure precision in training delivery and operational tasks.
- Communication: Strong interpersonal and communication skills to interact effectively with employees at all levels.
- Must be able to maintain upmost confidentiality with employee records
- Physical Requirements:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to sit, stand or walk for prolonged periods of time. The employee is required to use hands and fingers to operate, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls and reach with hands and arms on a repetitive basis. The employee must be able to lift, bend, stoop, push/pull exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds frequently and/or up to 20 pounds constantly to move objects. Requires visual acuity to review written documentations; ability to hear and understand speech. There is sufficient noise to cause the worker to shout in order to be heard above the ambient noise level. There is exposure to a variety of physical conditions such as proximity to moving mechanical parts, electrical current, and exposure to heat/cold temperature changes.
Additional Notes: - This position will work a relatively set schedule, duties will vary.
- Pay will increase by tier as job proficiency and experience increase.
- Wage includes additional $2/hr for translator responsibilities.
