JOB SUMMARY:
This role will lead an upstream marketing effort that includes portfolio strategy development and implementation primarily for the patient positioning, instrument processing and overall medical and dental room ecosystem portfolio at Midmark. Work jointly with external (clinicians, economic buyers) and internal stakeholders including Engineering, Product Development, Downstream Marketing, Strategy development and leadership to create customer-centric product strategies for current and future product to ensure a strong pipeline for future growth. Lead the coordination of business cases, early-stage tech ideation, development with engineering and launch of new products, in partnership with downstream marketing and sales organizations. Lead market development efforts by identifying, supporting and recommending new areas of growth beyond existing product lines. Managing Product Managers, this role will also need to have a high EQ to work effectively with other functions in the company. Engage with KOLs, clinical and operational stakeholders to identify market opportunities and assess global dynamics impacting long term growth. This role is a hybrid role expected to be on-site in the Versailles, Ohio location 4 days a week and 1 day remote. This is not a remote position.
ESSENTIAL/PRIMARY DUTIES:
- Lead, develop and oversee implementation of product strategies to maximize the revenue potential from current assets. This would include:
- Supporting the development of corporate and divisional product strategies within relevant product portfolios.
- Translate corporate business goals and strategic priorities to an actionable pipeline that will drive revenue and exceed financial performance expectations worldwide.
- Lead execution through PRP processes
- Creates multi-year strategic growth plans and a robust global product roadmap driving alignment on strategy with Sr. Leadership and R&D peers.
- Works with clinicians to obtain feedback on the current market or procedure challenges, to better understand unmet needs and to observe new devices and product areas.
- Map out competitive strategy and develop / execute strategy to advance the business.
- Analyze qualitative and quantitative market data in order to identify trends in the market and thereby translate these trends into business opportunities and actions.
- Conduct opportunity modeling of new technology platforms including cannibalization / obsolescence of existing products.
- Deliver and/or present documents, presentations, etc., monthly to PRP Governance Team
- Create global market overview maps of key applications and technologies.
- Identify and predict strategic competitive plays and market positioning.
- Identify immediate, midterm and long-term product gaps within the portfolio and provide solutions to fill the gaps.
- Use physician network to assemble customer insights – formally or informally – to inform our pipeline strategy.
SECONDARY DUTIES:
- Able to mentor and coach direct line reports, cross-functional team members and other marketing teammates.
- Leverage industry best of the best practices to develop multi-generational product planning and sustainable winning pipeline by determining and prioritizing key unmet needs in the marketplace.
- Be the internal SME and provide guidance and perspectives with references to market and competitive evidence to peers, leadership and strategy development teams.
- Integrate consumer research, financial, marketing, operating, manufacturing, and supply activities to drive business units’ strategies.
- Serve as an internal resource for teams developing products based on the Midmark innovation process.
- Interpret and evaluate data from various literature and publications, to quantify impact to portfolio.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor's degree in engineering, life science or business discipline required, MBA preferred. Ideally an advanced scientific degree. 15+ years of experience with minimum of 10 years of product management/ upstream experience; experience in a medical device company preferred. Demonstrated success in leading medical device product development through commercial launch. Strong people management experience and success in working in complex organizations. Experience presenting to leadership & C-suite required. Prior experience of managing MedTech portfolio from mapping unmet needs to launch execution and sustainment required.
