Twin Calender Technician | D Shift (12 Hour Night Shift)Position Overview
Summary:
The purpose of this position is to ensure that the Twin Calender processes remains safely operational while maintaining product quality standards. This position reports to the Twin Calender Lead and involves collaboration with team members to achieve production goals efficiently.
Duties (Essential & Non-Essential):
Make machine/process adjustments on the line and via computer.
Conduct visual inspections of products for defects and grading.
Follow specific instructions on each order to ensure compliance with production standards.
Maintain operation of production equipment through associate maintenance tasks and housekeeping.
Achieve set quality standards and promptly raise concerns when standards are not met.
Exercise overall visual control of the assigned section of the line, rotating as necessary.
Perform quality checks on finished products using both qualitative and quantitative methods.
Monitor parameters such as speed, edge trim, unwinder changeovers, and material properties (temperature, humidity).
Assist the Department Lead in the daily production of quality resilient flooring in the safest, most efficient, and productive manner by utilizing established methods and procedures.
Issue and confirm material in the inventory management system.
Assist lead and supervisor with weekly inventory audits.
Thread up the line as needed and feed new rolls of material, including extruded, print and wear layer.
Operate lift trucks to move inventory to and from the line, once trained.
Understand lockout/tagout and green lock procedures for safe operation of equipment.
Jump seams and perform flying rolls using a gantry crane as required.
Work safely and cooperatively with team members and all Shaw associates.
Lead by example as a positive, team-oriented employee.
Maintain cleanliness and organization within the department.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Ability to perform basic reading, writing, and math skills.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Familiarity with or willingness to learn current computer systems and software.
Proven ability to work collaboratively with all levels of associates.
Ability to tolerate changes in temperature and humidity.
Must be able to occasionally climb stairs to operate equipment.
Must be able to work without close supervision and be cross-trained for other jobs.
Passion for achieving results and making timely, safe decisions.
High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
Experience with continuous manufacturing processes is a plus.
Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and sit or stand for extended periods in varying environmental conditions.
Training Requirements:
Complete safety and operational training specific to laminating processes and equipment.
Undergo training on inventory management systems and quality control protocols.
