Job Overview:

Poultry-Turkey Assistant Manager Position:

Job Role:

Assistant farm managers play a crucial role in daily operations, ensuring the health and well-being of the birds, maintaining the facility, and supporting the farm's overall productivity. They handle tasks like monitoring bird health, feeding and watering and managing biosecurity. Additionally, they may be involved in maintaining equipment, managing staff schedules, and ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards. They serve as the acting manager when the site manager is away or on PTO.

Key added responsibilities in stepping into management role would be working with site manager on:

Supervision and team leadership

• Training and Mentoring: Help train and supervise new hires and junior staff, ensuring everyone understands and follows safety procedures and farming practices.

• Workforce Management: Support the farm manager in organizing daily/weekly duties, ensuring adequate staffing levels, and monitoring team performance.

• Promoting a Positive Work Environment: Contribute to a dedicated team dynamic, encouraging open communication and constructive feedback.

• Health and Safety: Ensure that all staff and contractors adhere to safety protocols and proper biosecurity.

Recordkeeping and communication

• Accurate Recordkeeping: Maintain detailed records on bird health, feed and water consumption, environmental conditions, and production data.

• Reporting: Regularly communicate with the farm manager on farm status, potential issues, and progress towards goals.

• Communication with Stakeholders: Collaborate with other departments, suppliers, and veterinarians as needed.

Deputizing and leadership

• Assuming Responsibility in Absence of Farm Manager: Be prepared to step in and manage farm operations, particularly during the farm manager's absence or during peak seasons or emergencies.

Other Daily Responsibilities and Areas of Expected Mastery:

· Taking blood and keeping track of blood schedule for flocks.

· Vaccinating flocks for AMPV, and H.E.

· Learn and understand the water system to help with monitoring its operation.

· Learn to order feed so they are comfortable ordering it when I'm not here.

· To help and keep track of equipment maintenance.

Candidate must be bilingual.
