CDL-A Truck Driver Description
- Duties and Responsibilities (essential functions)
- Perform daily pre-trip inspections including but not limited to checking oil level, water level, fuel level and visually inspecting both the tractor and the trailer; required paperwork must be completed
- Inspect load in trailer to ensure it is properly loaded and is the correct load before leaving
- Hook up tractor to trailer, which includes backing under the trailer, raising landing gear, and hookup up air lines
- Drive in variety of climates and traffic
- Transport load via the most efficient route to proper destination while observing all traffic laws and safety regulations
- Verify count while truck is being unloaded; assist with unloading when necessary
- Handle shipping documents
- Complete necessary paperwork accurately and in a timely manner
- Comply with all company policies and procedures, including safety and DOT requirements
- Make pickups for return to BBP as dispatched
- Switch on the yard as necessary
- Maintain positive and productive communication with all relationships
- Must follow all company policies and procedures
- Must be trained on Box-Board Products, Inc. Employee Practices for AIB Compliance (a.k.a. Good Manufacturing Practices or G.M.P.’s); must follow all Good Manufacturing Practices (G.M.P.’s)
- Additional duties as assigned by supervisor
CDL-A Truck Driver Qualifications
- Comply with all company policies and procedures, including safety and DOT requirements

- Job Specification
- Meet DOT requirements
- 2 years verifiable OTR experience required; 3-5 years DOT-regulated experience preferred
- Must be at least 21 years of age
- Must not have DUI/DWI or reckless driving on MVR
- Valid CDL required
- Must be knowledgeable of FMCSR
- Must be able to obtain a 2 year medical certificate
- Must complete BBP forklift certification course and maintain forklift license if selected to deliver to those customers that require this credential
- Must be able to read and understand English instructions; written and verbal
- Must be able to communicate with supervisors, coworkers, customers, and vendors
- Ability to frequently travel up/down a flight of stairs
