Job Description Summary

Deliver peas, corn, carrots, moving equipment using lowboys and other commodities to the plant for processing. This is a Night shift, working 12 hours per day, 5-6 days per week.

Job Description

  • Drives Assigned tractor-trailer combination, applying knowledge of commercial driving regulations.
  • Drive and adhere to directed route.If altering the route the driver must speak to his supervisor before changing route or making additional stop. IE: Rest stops, truck stops, stores.
  • Maneuvers truck into loading or unloading position, following signals from loading crew as needed.
  • Drives truck to weigh station before and after loading, and along route to document weight and conform to state regulations.
  • Maintains driver log according to I.C.C. regulations.
  • Inspects truck before and after each trip and submits report indicating truck condition.
  • Loads or unloads or assists in loading and unloading truck.
  • Stays with Truck during unloading process, unless otherwise directed by supervisor.
  • Performs routine duties with minimal supervision.
  • Comply with all safety policies, practices, and procedures. Report all unsafe activities to Supervisor and/or Human Resources
  • Participate in proactive team efforts to achieve departmental and company goals.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Scope:

  • Load securement. Understanding the law
  • Completion of adequate equipment inspection.
  • Obeying local, state and federal Law.

Basic & Preferred Qualifications

Education/ Certifications: (Required)

  • Valid state issued Driver License

  • A valid commercial driver’s license (Class A)

  • Clean MVR

  • Tanker Endorsement

Skills and Experience:

  • Basic verbal communication skills

  • Minimum of 1 year’s experience required.

Physical Environment/Demands:

  • Ability to load and secure equipment on lowboy trailers. Lifting and securing Chains and binder in correlation with federal law.

  • Some travel may be required (100% of time if significant)

  • Incumbents may sit for long periods of time in truck.

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear.

  • Stooping, bending, twisting and reaching may be required in completion of job duties.

Typical Plant Role Examples

  • Ability to lift up to 30 pounds and to stand, walk, bend, stoop, twist and turn frequently.
  • Exposed to a noisy environment that varies from hot and cold in temperature.
  • Ability to do repetitious arm, wrist and hand movements required for job actions and procedures.
  • Must be able to work with hands and arms overhead, and to work in or under the equipment.
  • Requires manual dexterity, overall coordination, and good balance to work both at ground level and in high places to perform job duties. Ability to operate work related equipment.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

This compensation is specific to this position and takes into account a number of variables. Actual compensation may be higher or lower in the range based on various factors, including, but not limited to a candidate’s work location, job duties, experience and expertise. A reasonable hourly estimate of the range for this role based on the variables previously mentioned is: $26.56
