Truck Driver
Position Summary
With aid from the Supply Chain Manager, Warehouse Supervisor, and Director of Supply Chain, takes responsibility for the safe operation of BMSC’s semi -tractor and trailer. Keeps track of and executes all DOT required action items. Keeps medical records and driver log information up-to-date and accurate, and ensures all licensing and regulatory items for equipment are up-to-date.
Responsibilities and Essential Duties
- Complete a handwritten Daily Forklift Checklist before the start of each shift when required to operate equipment.
- Completes a daily maintenance walk-around on the tractor and trailer, bringing any possible issues up to the Supervisor.
- Trained on inventory transfers in SAGE X3 ERP using the Scanner (RF Gun) and data entry terminal.
- Required to operate forklift trucks and/or pallet jacks after certification training (periodic recertification required thereafter).
- Tracks monthly fuel usage and turns it in to Accounting for month-end reconciliation.
- Assists in investigations of inventory discrepancies as needed and as assigned by Supervisor.
- Maintains a safe and clean work environment at all times by following GMP and SOP guidelines.
- Follows and abides by the Company Employee Manual at all times.
- Maintains assigned aisles in Shipping for cleanliness and organization.
- Executes cycle counts on components as required by supervisor or company management.
- Maintains regular and punctual attendance daily.
- Can execute the duties of the Warehouse Associate and Warehouse Material Handler per their job descriptions.
- Assists other Warehouse personnel in daily cleaning operations.
- Assist other Warehouse personnel in daily operations including putting returns away and pulling work orders.
- Completes other duties as assigned by the Warehouse Supervisor and/or Manager.
Qualifications
Technical Skills Required
- Ability to operate or be trained to drive a forklift, pallet jack, order picker. Minimum 6 months experience is ideal.
- Ability to read and understand formulas, procedures, SOPS, and GMPs.
- Strong math and computer skills to confirm weights.
- Accurate and legible record keeping skills.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Previous warehouse experience is ideal.
- Able to learn and utilize the Scanner (RF gun) in daily operations.
- Must have a valid Texas Commercial Driver’s License in good standing with DOT regulations.
Experience Required
- High School diploma or GED equivalent.
- Previous experience with cycle counting and inventory control highly desirable.
- Ability to use different types of weigh scales and convert from pounds/ounces to kilograms/ grams accurately.
- Ability to contribute to a productive and cooperative atmosphere, show commitment to team objectives, handle day-to-day work challenges, and manage multiple tasks at one time.
- Prior experience in Safety programs, forklift operation and warehouse operations ideal.
- At least 1 to 2 years of prior driving experience is required for vehicles over 29,000 GVW.
Physical Requirements
- Regularly sit, stand, and walk for extended periods of time.
- Ability to sit, balance, climb, stand, bend, squat, squeeze, kneel, turn, crouch, and stoop repeatedly.
- Physically able to lift 50 to 60 pounds on a regular basis without restrictions.
- Good eye/hand coordination, with some experience with hand tools.
- Frequent exposure to varying temperatures, loud noises, heavy machinery, fumes, or airborne particles.
- Prolonged use of computer screen and/or scan gun.
