Travel MIG Welder
FlexTrades is seeking experienced Travel MIG Welders to join our team on long-term manufacturing projects across the United States. This role is ideal for welders who are comfortable with fitting, layout work, blueprint reading, and producing high-quality weldments in a fast-paced fabrication environment.

Responsibilities
- Perform layout, fitting, tacking, and MIG welding of fabricated components
- Read and interpret blueprints, weld drawings, AWS symbols, and BOMs
- Weld primarily galvanneal and carbon steel materials
- Set machine parameters when WPS documentation is unavailable
- Verify fit-up tolerances and weld quality using gauges and measuring tools
- Grind, clean, and finish weldments to quality standards
- Operate overhead cranes and pallet jacks safely
- Maintain productivity and quality expectations throughout a 10-hour shift
Qualifications
- Strong MIG welding and fabrication experience
- Ability to perform layout and fitting work with minimal supervision
- Experience welding fillet and groove welds in flat, horizontal, and vertical positions
- Ability to work from blueprints and fabrication drawings
- Understanding of AWS weld symbols and weld inspection requirements
- Comfortable working with decimals, fractions, and standard shop measurements
- TIG welding experience is a plus but not required
- Overhead crane experience is a plus
Materials & Processes
- MIG welding using .035" and .045" wire
- Short-circuit and pulse transfer processes
- Primarily galvanneal steel, with some carbon steel applications
- Material thicknesses ranging from sheet metal to structural components
Weld Test
Candidates must successfully complete an onsite MIG weld test to D1.1 standards. The test includes blueprint reading, fitting, and welding fillet welds in horizontal and vertical positions. Practice material is provided, but retests are not permitted.
