Position Summary

FlexTrades is seeking a highly skilled Traveling Swiss Machinist to join our team of elite precision manufacturing professionals. This role is ideal for machinists who excel in Swiss-style CNC machining, enjoy travel, and thrive in dynamic, project-based environments. You will work with top-tier manufacturers across the country, providing critical machining expertise where it's needed most.

Key Responsibilities

• Set up, operate, and troubleshoot Swiss-style CNC machines (Citizen, Star, Tsugami, etc.)
• Interpret and work from blueprints, drawings, and GD&T specifications
• Perform full machine setups, including tooling, offsets, and program adjustments
• Edit and optimize CNC programs for efficiency and quality
• Ensure parts meet tight tolerances and quality standards
• Perform in-process inspections using precision measuring instruments
• Collaborate with on-site teams to meet production goals and deadlines
• Maintain a safe and clean working environment

Required Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience with Swiss CNC machining
• Strong experience with setup and operation (not just operation)
• Proficiency reading blueprints and GD&T
• Experience with commonly used materials (stainless steel, titanium, aluminum, plastics)
• Ability to independently troubleshoot machining issues
• Willingness and ability to travel extensively (up to 75–100%)
• Strong work ethic, adaptability, and professionalism

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with multiple Swiss machine platforms (Citizen, Star, Tsugami, etc.)
• Familiarity with Fanuc or Mitsubishi controls
• Programming experience (G-code or conversational programming)
• Background in aerospace, medical, or defense manufacturing
