FlexTrades is seeking experienced Traveling Pipefitters for an industrial manufacturing project in Wixom, MI.

In this role, you will assemble and install industrial piping systems tied to fluids, hydraulics, pneumatics, combustion, gas trains, and furnace systems. The primary work involves black pipefitting (cutting, threading, and joining using mechanical/Rigid-style machines).

Pay & Benefits:

• Hourly Rate: $42.00 / hour

• Hours: 50 hours/week guaranteed (Overtime after 40)

• Per Diem: $315 / week

• Lodging: Hotel booked and paid directly by FlexTrades

• Travel: Travel pay provided to assignment

• Transportation: Drive Own Car to the project

Key Responsibilities:

• Cut, thread, and join black pipe (ranging from ½” up to 4”) using mechanical/Rigid-style threading equipment.

• Lay out and assemble pipe fittings, elbows, couplers, connectors, flanges, and reducers.

• Read and interpret complex blueprints and industrial schematics without step-by-step dimensions to route and lay out piping independently.

• Prepare larger pipe joints (above 2”) for welding when necessary (Stick/MIG experience is helpful, but primary focus is pipefitting).

• Work collaboratively following welding/fab, insulation, and assembly teams prior to final electrical wiring.

• Operate equipment as needed (pallet jacks, forklifts, genie booms, scissor lifts, ladders) up to furnace heights of 12’–16’.

Requirements:

• Proven experience with black pipe cutting, MPT threading, and mechanical assembly.

• Must be comfortable reading and working strictly from complex prints/schematics.

• Must have a reliable personal vehicle and be willing to drive to the project location in Wixom, MI.

• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, work at heights, and perform physical shop tasks safely.

• Must pass a background check and drug screen.

(Note: Conduit bending is performed by electricians and is not part of this role).

• Basic Industrial Welding Prep (Stick / MIG joint prep)

• Genie Booms / Scissor Lifts / Aerial Work Platforms (for working up to 16’ heights)
• Hand & Power Tools (Pipe Wrench, Dies, Couplers)
• Mechanical Pipe Threaders / Rigid Threading Machines (MPT Threads)
• Material Handling Equipment (Forklifts, Pallet Jacks, Overhead Cranes)
