Traveling CNC Machinist – Nationwide Projects

$40+/hr + Per Diem | Long & Short-Term Projects

This position is fully travel-based, supporting manufacturing operations through long-term on-site deployments

Candidates must be open and willing to travel throughout the United States to qualify.

The Opportunity

Nordic Solutions is seekinghighly skilled CNC Machinistsfor traveling projects across the U.S.

• Pay:$40/hour and up (dependent upon project and skillset)
• Per Diem:$125–$180/day (location dependent)
• Travel Experience:Preferred, but not required
• Project Length:Open ended. We ask that you remain on site as long as the client needs you.Typically, 6 months+

Required Experience

Do you have 5+ years of recent, verifiable experiencein one or more of the following?

• CNC Milling
• 5-Axis Mill-Turnmachines
• CNC Lathes
• Swiss Lathes
• **Dual-Spindle, Dual-Turret Lathes **with live tooling
• ID/OD Grinding
• Centerless Grinding
• Manual Mills and/or Lathes

Technical Expectations

All roles require the ability to independently:

• Perform full machine setups, often with limited or no work instructions
• Design, build, and gauge tooling
• Calculate, enter, and adjust offsets using probes, edge finders, etc.
• Edit, debug, and prove out programs at the control
• Safely machine **one-off and low-volume parts **in high-alloy steels, tool steels, and exotic materials
• Work confidently with multiple controls, including but not limited to:

Inspection & Quality Skills

You should possessadvanced inspection capabilities, including experience with:

• Full layout inspections
• Digital and analog height gages
• Optical comparators and vision systems
• Profile tracers
• Manual, portable, and bridge-style CMMs
• Sine plates, sine bars, and standard precision inspection equipment

Strong problem-solving and analytical skills are essential to resolving quality and production issues.

Professional Expectations

• Ability to work effectively with all levels of shop personnel
• Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and urgent production needs
• Strong attendance and consistent performance throughout the project
• Ability to work any shift, including 2nd, 3rd, weekends, and overtime

What We Provide

• Daily Per Diem:$125–$180 tax free
• Overtime: Available based on clients’ need
• Mileage Reimbursement:$0.70/mile to the client site (paid on first paycheck)
