ABOUT RIGHTMAN INDUSTRIAL
Pro Services is proud to partner with Rightman Industrial to fill a direct hire role, and we can say firsthand: this is a company that takes care of its people and stands behind its values, with real room to build a career, take ownership of your territory, and make a visible impact.
At Rightman Industrial, they specialize in waste recycling and dock equipment. The work is done across the automotive, food, and commercial industries. They are a growing company that values high-quality work, customer satisfaction, and teamwork, and are looking for a Service Technician who shares those values and is ready to grow. You'll be part of a supportive, collaborative team that truly cares about each other and the customers.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
As a Level 3 Service Technician, you are the most experienced hands-on technician in the field — the one other techs and customers turn to when a job gets complicated. You will:
• **Diagnose and repair **industrial trash compactors, balers, and loading dock equipment at customer sites across Michigan, working out of a fully stocked company service van.
• **Own the electrical side of the job, **comfortably working inside a live electrical panel to diagnose issues with relays, PLCs, limit switches, step-down transformers, and motors on 0–24V, 110–240V single phase, and 480V three-phase systems.
• **Handle the mechanical and hydraulic work, **including failing shafts, bearings, gearboxes, conveyors, compactor walls and floors, and hydraulic cylinders, directional valves, and pressure switches — pulling failed components back to the shop for rebuild when needed.
• **Fabricate and weld on site **using a stick welder to repair sheet metal on chutes and hoppers or reinforce the understructure of a loading dock.
• **Be the face of Rightman Industrial **at every customer site — communicating clearly with dispatch and the service manager, keeping the customer informed before you leave, and representing the company's standard of professionalism and workmanship.
• **Mentor and train newer technicians, **walking them through equipment, sharing what you know, and serving as the go-to resource for the team's less experienced techs.
WHAT YOU WILL BRING
• **Experience: **3+ years in industrial maintenance or field service, with strong, hands-on electrical skills as your top strength — this is not an entry-level or apprentice role.
• **Electrical depth: **proven ability to troubleshoot cabinets, wiring, sensors, motors, and control panels, and confidently teach meter proficiency to others.
• **Working knowledge of Allen Bradley and Siemens **components is a plus.
• **Mechanical and hydraulic troubleshooting **on industrial equipment; welding experience (stick welding) for on-site repairs.
• **Leadership instinct: **prior experience training, mentoring, or leading other technicians.
• **A valid driver's license and clean driving record, **and willingness to obtain a chauffeur's license (Rightman covers the cost).
• **Comfort working independently **most of the day while staying in close communication with the shop — self-sufficient, not siloed.
• **Your own basic hand tools **(Rightman supplies specialty tools, welding equipment, and the service vehicle).
LIFE ON THE ROAD
This is a travel-based role. You will run your own van and your own schedule, driving to customer sites across Michigan — primarily the Grand Rapids and West Michigan area, with routes that can range up to the Upper Peninsula or metro Detroit. The vast majority of nights you are home; overnight stays are rare (roughly a couple of times a year for larger installs) and known well in advance. Technicians rotate on-call duty about one week in four, including holidays, with a two-hour response window and double-time pay for any after-hours or weekend call.
WHAT RIGHTMAN OFFERS
• Starting pay of $35–40/hour based on experience
• A company service van, fuel, and specialty tools — you bring your own basic hand tools
• Double time for after-hours and weekend calls, standard overtime beyond 40 hours
• Comprehensive health insurance, HSA, and paid time off
• A structured first 90 days: you're paired with an experienced tech in week one, in your own van on simple jobs by week two, and fully autonomous within 30 days — with a support system at the shop the whole way
• A small company that stands behind its core values and takes care of its people, with real room to grow your career
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Regularly lifts and carries 21–50 lbs; occasionally handles heavier components (such as an electric motor) with a forklift, come-along, or a second person. Work involves standing, walking, kneeling, crouching, and occasional ladder or scaffold use, often on wet, oily, or uneven surfaces. Required PPE includes safety glasses, a safety vest, steel-toe boots, gloves, and welding protection.
