Travel Contract Aircraft Painter

Overview

We are seeking a skilled Aircraft Painter to join our aerospace manufacturing team. This role is responsible for preparing, masking, mixing, and applying coatings to large aircraft components while meeting strict aerospace quality and mil-spec standards. The ideal candidate will have experience in aerospace, aviation, or automotive painting environments and be comfortable working with precision coating processes.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare, mask, tape, plug, and paint aircraft components and assemblies.
  • Apply primers and topcoats using Air-Assisted and HVLP paint systems.
  • Mix coatings and verify viscosity according to manufacturing specifications and work instructions.
  • Perform stenciling and occasional roll-on paint applications.
  • Measure coating thickness using digital gauges and ensure compliance with aerospace and mil-spec requirements.
  • Adjust paint equipment settings based on environmental conditions such as temperature and humidity.
  • Move and position large components as needed throughout the painting process.
  • Follow all safety procedures while using respirators, protective suits, and painting equipment.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area while supporting quality and production goals.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience as an Aircraft Painter, Aerospace Painter, Automotive Painter, or Industrial Painter.
  • Experience using HVLP and/or air-assisted spray paint systems.
  • Ability to read and follow manufacturing orders, paint specifications, and work instructions.
  • Knowledge of paint mixing, viscosity checks, and coating thickness measurements.
  • Familiarity with aerospace, aviation, or other high-precision painting environments preferred.
  • Experience with aluminized primers is a plus.
  • Ability to wear a respirator and other required personal protective equipment.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.
  • Ability to perform physically active work and move around large components throughout the shift.
