Job Overview
Responsible for overall leadership and management of the maintenance department to ensure all equipment is maintained in accordance with company and DOT/FMCSA requirements. Responsible for all reporting and record keeping in accordance with DOT/FMCSA regulations. Responsible for the efficient and safe operation of the equipment of the fleet. Gourmet Foods International is screening maintenance managers who can work nights, weekends and holidays. GFI offers set schedules, medical insurance and paid time off.
What does your day look like? Some of your duties may include:
- Manage budgets and expenses for all aspects of vehicle maintenance
- Managing the maintenance team while working collaboratively with all transportation department team members
- Scheduling and administering preventative and regular fleet maintenance to the Company’s equipment used to operate in a distribution environment including class A and B fleet trucks, trailers, etc.
- Assisting in troubleshooting problems with all equipment
- Ensuring compliance daily with State, Federal and Company requirements including completing, maintaining and filing all necessary paperwork in a timely manner
- Ensuring a safe environment exists and that all maintenance and related activities are in conformance with company policies and regulatory requirements
- Assisting in accident investigation, re-creation and coordinating needed repairs
- Initiating and implementing projects that improve efficiency and/or reduce operating costs
- Ensuring maintenance technicians and all maintenance office staff are trained on current operating procedures, are properly equipped, and motivated
Things you need to be able to do:
- Technical competence with light/medium/heavy duty vehicle repair and preventive maintenance including the ability to manage diagnostic programs and fleet maintenance systems. Must be able to organize and direct a team of maintenance personnel.

- Knowledge of DOT/FMCSA rules and regulations
- Able to properly prioritize, implement and manage work schedules, projects and assignments
- Able to manage the financial/accounting aspects of a fleet maintenance operation
- Excellent communication skills; able to communicate effectively with all levels of staff in written and oral formats
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and experience with Transportation Maintenance software is preferred
- Display initiative, professionalism, candor and tact at all times
Things that are a plus:
- 3 to 5 years of experience in fleet management and/or running a vehicle repair facility experience; experience managing/directing employees is a must
- Valid CDL license with previous commercial driving experience
- High School Diploma or equivalent, bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Must be able to sit and process data flows for long durations of time.
- Ability to lift 50 pounds above waist as needed.
- Work in seasonal weather.
