Trailer Mechanic Welder – Fabricator 

 Hale Trailer, Inc. is a full-service trailer dealership with an immediate opening at its Allentown, PA location.  We are looking for an experienced mechanic with some basic welding and fabrication skills to join our team of tank trailer repair professionals.  This is a great career opportunity if you enjoy a dynamic, fast paced work environment, offering a variety of repair, maintenance, and diagnostic assignments.

 Responsibilities:  

 Perform mechanical repairs on tank trailers that would include air brakes systems, ABS repairs, suspensions, lighting, electrical, DOT inspections and general maintenance. Welding and fabrication would be to support the mechanical repairs needed.

 All repairs would be expected to be made in an efficient, timely, accurate, professional, and safe manner in accordance with all Company polices DOT, OSHA and other governmental standards and regulations.

 Requirements:

  • Prefer a candidate who has two (2) years technical training in metal technology, welding, fabrication or welder certification is desirable.
  • Must be able to use a power lift to unload aluminum shipments and lift up to 100 lbs.
  • Must be able to use a break ad shear to bend steel components.
  • Must be able to use a plasma cutter or torch to cut steel.
  • Experience with MIG, TIG welding a plus, but not necessary.
  • Must be able to read and interpret blueprints and schematics.
  • Must be able to produce after-market Parker parts, involving metal cutting and welding.
  • Experience installing tarp systems a plus.
  • Must have a strong knowledge regarding the safe handling and operation of trailers, welding & power tools, etc.
  • Must have previous experience with fabrication, suspensions, air brakes, electrical systems, hydraulics, and welding.  Liftgate experience a plus.
  • Must present a professional, highly motivated, positive, results oriented, problem solving attitude.
  • Must have good communication skills.
  • Must be able to work independently in a fast paced and dynamic environment.
  • Must have own hand tools.
  • A Federal Certification Reefer HVAC Type II current core card would be a plus.
  • Must have a valid driver license; a CDL a plus.
  • Must maintain a clean and safe work environment.
  • Must adhere to all Company policies including safety policies.
  • Must pass a standard pre-employment drug test.
