Trailer MechanicKey Responsibilities- Perform inspections, diagnostics, and repairs on trailers, including:
- Air brake systems- Suspension systems- Landing gear- Doors, roofs, floors, and sidewalls- Electrical systems and lighting
Conduct DOT inspections and ensure compliance with federal and state regulations
Perform preventative maintenance (PMs) according to schedule
Repair or replace damaged structural components (welding/fabrication as required)
Troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues efficiently
Accurately document repairs, inspections, and maintenance records
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area
Communicate repair needs and timelines with supervisors or fleet managers
Required Qualifications- 2+ years of trailer repair or heavy equipment maintenance experience
Strong knowledge of trailer brake systems, suspension, and electrical components
Ability to read repair manuals, schematics, and inspection reports
Proficient with hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment
Valid driver’s license
Ability to lift up to 75 lbs and work in varying shop or outdoor conditions
Preferred Qualifications- Welding experience (MIG/Stick)
DOT inspection certification
Experience with dry van, reefer, flatbed, or tanker trailers
CDL (not required but a plus)
Work Environment- Shop and/or outdoor repair yard
Exposure to grease, oils, noise, and varying weather conditions
Standing, bending, kneeling, and climbing required
