The Tools & Parts Attendant is responsible for receiving, shipping, storing, issuing, and maintaining inventory of tools, spare parts, replacement parts, shop supplies, equipment, and measuring devices used throughout the facility.
This position maintains accurate inventory records, tracks tools and equipment issued to employees, inspects tools for wear or damage, and ensures necessary parts and supplies are properly organized and available to support maintenance and manufacturing operations. The ideal candidate will be organized, detail-oriented, dependable, and comfortable working with computerized inventory and recordkeeping systems.
Receive, ship, store, organize, and distribute spare parts, machine tools, replacement parts, shop supplies, equipment, and measuring devices.
Maintain accurate records of tools and equipment issued to and returned by employees.
Assist in locating lost, missing, or misplaced tools and equipment.
Maintain perpetual inventory records and assist with periodic physical inventory counts.
Monitor inventory levels and submit requests for replacement stock and supplies as needed.
Receive, unpack, inspect, and properly store new tools, parts, supplies, and equipment.
Visually inspect tools and equipment for wear, defects, or damage.
Use measuring devices, including micrometers, when necessary to evaluate tool condition.
Report damaged, defective, or worn-out tools and equipment to the appropriate supervisor.
Apply grease or other approved preservatives to tools and equipment as required for proper storage and protection.
Attach identification tags, labels, or other identifying information to tools and equipment.
Use appropriate marking equipment to identify company tools and equipment when required.
Maintain an organized, clean, and safe tool room and parts storage area.
Follow established procedures for receiving, issuing, returning, and storing tools, parts, and equipment.
Utilize computer systems and Microsoft Office applications for inventory tracking, recordkeeping, and related administrative duties.
Follow all company safety policies, procedures, and departmental requirements.
Perform other qualified duties as assigned.
Knowledge of basic inventory, stockroom, warehouse, or supply procedures.
Ability to maintain accurate inventory and equipment records.
Ability to read and interpret written instructions, labels, part numbers, and related documentation.
Basic computer skills, including familiarity with Microsoft Office applications.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Ability to effectively track tools, parts, and equipment.
Ability to communicate effectively with maintenance personnel, supervisors, vendors, and other departments.
Ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities.
Specialized training, tool room experience, or parts/inventory experience is preferred.
Maintenance, mechanical, manufacturing, warehouse, or general tool experience is preferred.
Must be able to work day or night shift as assigned.
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Previous experience in a tool room, parts department, maintenance environment, warehouse, stockroom, or manufacturing facility preferred.
Maintenance, mechanical, or general tool experience preferred.
Completion of specialized technical or vocational training is desirable but not required.
Frequently lift, carry, move, and handle parts, tools, supplies, and equipment weighing up to 20 pounds.
Regularly stand, walk, bend, reach, and perform other physical activities associated with maintaining a tool room or parts inventory area.
Must be able to safely handle tools, equipment, parts, and shop supplies.
Must be able to work in a manufacturing environment and comply with all required personal protective equipment (PPE) and safety requirements.
