Job Overview:

Build precision tooling from customer prints through final assembly. Smith Brothers Tool Company is seeking an experienced Toolmaker with a solid background in precision jig and fixture building. This hands-on role combines fabrication, assembly, inspection, and troubleshooting, with weekly pay and overtime currently available.

Responsibilities

Build and assemble precision jigs, fixtures, and tooling to customer prints, specifications, and quality requirements.

Interpret blueprints, GD&T, and 3D CAD models to establish reference points, locate tooling holes, and verify dimensions using precision measuring equipment.

Operate manual lathes, Bridgeport mills, and grinders as needed for fabrication, fitting, and finishing.

Prepare fabrication sketches, repair and rework existing tooling, and inspect completed work for accuracy and function.

Work with engineers and other builders to resolve fit and assembly issues while maintaining a safe, organized workspace.

Requirements

At least three to five years of precision jig and fixture building experience, strong blueprint-reading skills, and a working knowledge of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T).

You should be comfortable interpreting 3D CAD models and using precision measurement and hand metrology tools to verify dimensions and tolerances.

Manual machining experience with mills, lathes, and grinders is preferred.

Strong shop math, problem-solving, and communication skills are important, along with attention to detail and the ability to work independently and with a team.
