As a Tooling/CNC Manufacturing Engineer, you are responsible for developing tools, programming and maintaining the CNC machines to ensure efficient and accurate production of parts and components. You will read and interpret technical drawings, create CNC programs, select tools and optimize production processes to meet quality standards and production timelines. You will play a critical role in manufacturing operations by ensuring precision and efficiency in CNC machining.

What You Will Do:

  • Develop and write CNC programs based on engineering drawings and specifications

  • Create setup sheets for each job detailing tool paths, tooling and any other pertinent information needed to run the job

  • Select appropriate tools, cutting paths, and speeds and feeds for materials and parts to be machined

  • Design tooling or fixturing as needed to carry out each job

  • Diagnose and troubleshoot CNC programming and machining issues, adjusting programs as needed

  • Optimize machine programs to improve production efficiency, reduce cycle times and minimize tool wear

  • Ensure all machined parts meet quality specifications and tolerances

  • Work with engineering, inspection and the quality control to verify part accuracy for first runs

  • Maintain records of tools, CNC programs and setup sheets

  • Assist in training CNC machinists as needed

  • Review and approve tool and fixture drawings to ensure manufacturability

  • Procure tools and fixtures from qualified suppliers to meet required production timelines

  • Modify or repair tools or fixtures as needed for production use and update drawings accordingly

  • Manage customer owned tooling

Qualifications You Must Have:

Qualifications We Prefer:

  • CNC programming experience with Haas lathes and vertical machining centers

  • Manufacturing shop floor experience

  • Experience creating standard work instructions

  • Continuous improvement experience with Lean, Six Sigma, ACE or CORE

  • SAP experience

  • Solidworks experience for tool and/or fixture design

  • Proficient at Geometric Dimensioning/Tolerancing (GD&T)

The salary range for this role is 66,000 USD - 130,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
