Job Description

ConMet - Canton, NC location is looking for an experienced Tooling Technician to help support our Tooling Department on night shift. If you excel at hands-on work with tight tolerances and love working with large injection molds, let us know! Tooling Technicians at our facility are key to keeping our plastic injection molds running, supporting the Class 8 Heavy Truck market.

What You Will Do:

• Read job specifications to determine machine adjustments and material requirements

• Work with CAD and produce parts as required for mold and fixture maintenance

• Duplicate given parts when CAD is unavailable

• Adjust machines and fixtures as indicated by scale, rule, calipers, micrometers, thread or plug gauges

• Monitor/evaluate molding schedule to follow and execute tooling and readiness to include insert changes

• Troubleshoot injection molds

• Sustain production for each mold in the production area

• Observe any mold to detect tooling problems or machine malfunctions

• Measure mold and part dimensions to determine accuracy of machine operation

• Inspect all molds coming into plant to assure they are in good operating condition

• Inspect all cranes and related equipment daily

• Perform preventative maintenance on all tools and molds

What You Need to Be Successful:

• High school diploma/GEDrequired
• Minimum one-year certificate from college or technical school and three years of experience in a machine shop environmentrequired. Note: candidates with an equivalent combination of education and experience may also be considered.
• Ability to operate a surface grinder with spin fixture within tight tolerancesrequired
• Ability to use overhead crane and a forklift
• Ability to follow instructions, read micrometer, and understand CAD drawings
