Tooling Technician
Reports to: Tooling Manager
Position Summary:
The Tooling Technician performs routine maintenance and repairs on plastic injection molds, both in-press and on the bench. This includes disassembly, cleaning, inspection, and reassembly under the guidance of the Tooling Supervisor.
Key Responsibilities:
Safely maintain and repair injection molds to meet production and quality standards
Install and remove molds from injection machines
Perform preventative maintenance and troubleshoot mold-related issues
Maintain accurate mold history and records
Support mold shop and maintenance team as needed
Follow GMP, safety, food safety, and environmental protocols
Maintain clean and organized work areas; respond promptly to mold-related floor issues
Assist with spare parts management and tooling inventory
Skills & Qualifications:
3–5 years’ experience in mold repair, troubleshooting, and injection molding processes preferred
Proficient with machine shop tools and equipment (e.g., lathe, mill, surface grinder)
Basic rigging and welding skills a plus
Strong understanding of mechanical systems, blueprints, pneumatics, and hydraulics
Basic computer literacy and familiarity with CMMS
Good communication and problem-solving skills
Education:
Technical diploma or industrial license in a related field preferred
