REPORTS TO: Quality Manager
JOB SUMMARY:
Uses Master Cam and CNC Machine along with a variety of hand tools and manual machining equipment, to design, cut, and rig patterns, core boxes and grind fixtures. Stays on top of work queue including required recording and documentation. Works closely with the design engineer, to coordinate effective flow of new and existing patterns.
PHYSICAL WORK ENVIRONMENT:
This position involves regular: bending and lifting; continuous standing for long periods of time; pushing, pulling, and carrying of heavy parts and machines Must be able to wear required PPE including safety boots, earmuffs/ear plugs, safety glasses, gloves or other PPE when applicable.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Two-year technical degree in CNC Programming or related discipline, preferred.
- 2+ years pattern making and/or CNC Programming working experience required.
- Knowledge of and experience with spreadsheets and word processing software, including Microsoft Office products.
- Working knowledge of Mastercam or similar programming software
- Knowledge of CNC Machining centers and programming
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES and TASKS:
- Tool Design
- Uses knowledge and experience to design the most cost effective and efficient tool build for the required application
- Requisitions the appropriate materials needed for construction of tooling
- Tool Path Programming and operator
- Uses Mastercam to develop tool cut path
- Loads CNC with programs for tooling cuts
- Implement and abide by good quality control methods
- Program CNC grinder, validate and test program to optimize grind time and eliminate over/under grind conditions that may cause scrap.
- Works closely with quality, engineering, and production to create and implement tooling improvements.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area along with ongoing PM of machine.
- Coordinates the procurement and maintain inventory of all required pattern shop supplies and materials with purchasing.
- Performs pattern rigging and repairs.
- Perform all duties in compliance with ISO 9001:2015 procedures and processes.
- Perform any other duties as required by management.
