The tool room dispatcher is responsible for coordinating and distributing job packets, tooling, and equipment to production operators in alignment with the daily production schedule and priority plan. This role ensures that all tooling, gauges, and PPE requirements are met to support efficient and safe operations. The position also manages tool calibration schedules, monitors tool life, and assists with tooling inventory and quality readiness across all production areas.
Position Responsibilities:
Job Packet Coordination:
Prepare, organize, and dispatch work order job packets to production operators based on schedule priority and supervisor direction.
Ensure all job packets include necessary special tooling, fixtures, and quality check gauges before release to the floor.
Communicate with production, quality, and planning teams to confirm readiness and resolve missing information or tooling conflicts.
Work with Material Handler and Set-Up personnel to pre-stage jobs and material
Tooling & PPE Distribution:
Dispense all required cutting tools, consumables, hand tools, and personal protective equipment (PPE) to operators as needed.
Maintain accurate records of all tooling and PPE issued, including quantities, operators, and job numbers.
Monitor inventory levels and alert supervisor when restock or reorders are required.
Tool Calibration & Maintenance:
Track and schedule calibration of gauges, measuring instruments, and precision tooling per quality standards.
Maintain calibration logs, coordinate with quality department or external calibration services as required.
Tool Life Management:
Monitor and record tool usage and wear, identifying tools approaching end-of-life.
Assist in evaluating tool performance and recommending replacement.
Documentation & Systems:
Utilize tooling management software to log tool issuance, calibration status, and job packet tracking.
Support continuous improvement efforts in tool crib organization, tool tracking, and production support.
Maintain the job status as the work order moves through each operation.
Assist scheduling with information regarding work order issues e.g., shortage of material, BOM issues, Scrap per operation.
Safety & Compliance:
Ensure compliance with all company safety standards and PPE requirements.
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe tool crib and dispatch area.
Specific Knowledge, Skills or Abilities Required

Computer experience with MS Office
Position Qualifications:
Education:
High school diploma or GED required; technical certificate or manufacturing coursework preferred.
Experience:
High school diploma or GED required; technical certificate or manufacturing coursework preferred.
2+ years’ experience in a manufacturing or tool crib environment preferred.
Strong organizational and communication skills.
Working knowledge of manufacturing job packets, tooling systems, and quality inspection equipment.
Basic understanding of CNC machining and fabrication processes is beneficial.
