Industrial Millwright – Apprentice | Manual Machining & Die Repair

A metal fabrication operation, job is open due to a retirement.

The tool room itself is air-conditioned, organized, and very clean. This is a skilled, precise environment — not a dirty shop floor role.

Keys to Hire

Manual machining background on lathes and mills is preferred but could train
Mechanical aptitude is the core requirement — the ability to look at worn or broken tooling and fabricate a fix
Blueprint reading is helpful but not always applicable
CNC experience is only relevant if the candidate can set up machines and write programs, not just push buttons
Open to a mechanically inclined candidate without formal lathe or mill experience if the attitude and aptitude are right
This is a one-position opening and a long-term investment — the company wants someone who will stay and grow into the role

Overview

A respected metal fabrication operation is adding an Industrial Millwright to work directly alongside a seasoned veteran who is ready to pass on decades of hands-on knowledge. One of two long-tenured tool room employees recently retired, and the remaining specialist wants to bring in someone eager to learn the trade the right way.

This is not a role where you will be thrown into the deep end alone. The expectation is that the right person comes in with some mechanical foundation, a willingness to absorb a lot, and the attitude to build something long term. The tool room is clean, organized, and climate-controlled. The environment reflects the standard the team holds itself to.

Personality Fit

Humble, curious, and hands-on. Someone who wants to learn a craft and take pride in mastering it over time. The mentor relationship here is genuine — the remaining tool room employee is invested in passing on knowledge — but it requires someone who is receptive, self-motivated, and willing to put in the time to develop.
