Tool Room Machinist - Fort Wayne, Indiana
Contract role through 2026, potential contact-to-hire
Pay Rate: up to $28.00 per hour (based on proven work history)
Available Shifts :
2nd Shift: 3:00pm to 11:30pm
3rd Shift: 11:00pm to 7:30am
Description of the Tool Room Machinist:
The Tool Room Machinist is responsible for setting up, adjusting, and operating manual and CNC machine tools to manufacture, repair, and modify tooling, fixtures, dies, gauges, and precision components. This position supports production by ensuring tooling accuracy, quality, and minimal downtime.
Required Skills of the Tool Room Machinist: - Strong blueprint reading and GD&T knowledge
- Proficient in manual machining (critical in tool room environment)
- Knowledge of tool steels, heat treating, and surface finishes
- Proficiency using calipers, micrometers, and other inspection equipment
Required Experience and Education of the Tool Room Machinist: - 3-7 years experience in a tool room or precision machining environment
- Experience with tight tolerance machining
- Set up CNC mills and/or lathes (prove out programs, set offsets, adjust tooling)
- Interpret blueprints, GD&T, and engineering drawings
- Manufacture and repair fixtures, dies, jigs, and special tooling
- Hold tight tolerances ( /- .0005 " or as required)
- High School Diploma or GED
