Tool Room Maintenance Technician I (3rd Shift) - Rochester Hills, Michigan
Contract-to-Hire Position
Day Shift - Pay Rate: approximately $25.00 per hour (based on proven work history)
Third Shift (after initial training on 1st) - 11:00pm-7:00am
*This will be a 3rd Shift position but training will be required on 1st for several weeks (1st shift runs 7am-3pm)
Position Summary of the Tool Room Maintenance Technician I (3rd Shift):
To maintain high quality tooling through preventative maintenance, minor repair, and visual evaluation.
Roles and Responsibilities of the Tool Room Maintenance Technician I (3rd Shift): - Must be a team player and educate and share ideals when needed
- Read and understand tooling work orders and follow instructions
- Responsible for the correct disassembly and assembly of molds in a safe and timely manner
- Able to clean molds and assist Maintenance Technicians when needed
- Work to a schedule and meet deadlines in a timely manner
- Maintain a clean and well-organized work area
- Utilize measuring equipment that includes micrometers, calipers, height gages, bore micrometers, etc.
- Assist in the monitoring process to help keep a reasonable component inventory in stock
- Reduce machine downtime
- Maintain all tools and equipment that are used including the daily cleaning of tool room machinery
- Assist in maintaining maintenance records on the company computer system
- Work with little or no supervision when given clear direction
- Work with Process Engineers to troubleshoot issues with tool or improve on
- Be able to work on the production floor with tool in press to correct any issue to keep downtime at a minimum
- Able to operate a Surface Grinder with in a + or - .0002 on critical details
- Able to operate a Bridgeport/Lathe with in a + or - .001 tolerance
- Able to run an EDM machine
- Knowledge of Manifold systems (Example: Mold Master, Senventive, Osco, etc.)
- Able to polish and bench details
- Ability to fit new detail and spot in
- Ability to troubleshoot issues and repairs
- Knowledge of hydraulic systems
- Other duties as assigned
Education and Experience Requirements of the Tool Room Maintenance Technician I (3rd Shift): - High School Diploma or equivalent
- 5+ years of hands on experience in a tool room involving plastic injection mold repair or mold maintenance
Skills and Physical Requirements of the Tool Room Maintenance Technician I (3rd Shift): - 3+ years of experience using hand operated tool room equipment
- Knowledge and understanding of mold and die components and their respective characteristics
- Ability to read and understand tooling work orders
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Basic computer skills
- Prototype tool making experience, helpful
- Plastic injection processing experience, highly desired
- Trade school or some college, preferred
- Ability to lift 55 pounds
- Excessive walking, bending, standing, climbing, and lifting
- Ability to visually inspect tools with high degree of accuracy
- Ability to run machines and equipment safely and efficiently
