The Tool Room Maintenance Technician is responsible for maintaining, repairing, and organizing all tools, dies, fixtures, and related equipment used in production. This role ensures tooling is in safe, reliable working condition, supports manufacturing efficiency, and minimizes downtime through preventative maintenance and troubleshooting. The technician works closely with production, engineering, and quality teams to ensure operational readiness of all tooling assets.  


Education & Experience

  • High school diploma or GED required; technical certification or vocational training is a plus.
  • 2–5 years of experience in a tool room, machining, or industrial maintenance environment.
  • Experience with CNC equipment, manual machining, or tool and die repair is a strong plus.



Requirements

  

Tool & Equipment Maintenance

  • Perform routine  and preventative maintenance on tools, dies, jigs, and fixtures.
  • Diagnose and repair tooling issues to minimize production delays.
  • Sharpen, weld, grind, and adjust tools and components as required.
  • Inspect tooling for wear, defects, or performance issues and recommend replacements or      improvements.

Tool Room Operations

  • Organize, store, and track tools and equipment to ensure availability for production teams.
  • Maintain accurate records of tool inventory, maintenance activities, and spare parts.
  • Ensure the tool room is clean, safe, and compliant with all internal procedures and safety standards.  

Skills & Abilities

  • Proficiency with hand tools, measurement instruments (micrometers, calipers, gauges),     and machine shop equipment.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to interpret blueprints and technical      drawings.
  • Knowledge of metalworking processes such as grinding, milling, and welding.
  • Excellent problem-solving, organization, and time-management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced manufacturing setting.

  

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Frequent standing, walking, pushing, pulling, bending, and reaching.
  • Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.

  

Work Environment

  • Manufacturing and tool room environment with exposure to machinery, noise, and      metalworking operations.
  • May require overtime or on-call support depending on production needs.
