Job Overview:

POSITION SUMMARY: The Tool Room Maintenance Clerk is responsible for inspecting and maintaining tools, companywide. Ensures the proper storage, maintenance and inventory of tools and related equipment is in accordance with company standard operating procedures and policies. Receives, stores, and issues tools and related equipment, and maintains related records.  

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Issues tools and related equipment in accordance with company policies and procedures
  • Ensures the security of the tool room and the inventory therein as instructed and in accordance with company policies and practices
  • Resolves routine tool room issues and problems and notifies the Materials Manager of high priority problems and issues
  • Oversees the process of ‘removing from service’ any tooling that is due for calibration and expedites calibration processing as needed
  • Files and maintains tooling documentation (calibration, certs, purchase orders, etc.) properly according to company policies and procedures. Completes required documentation as mandated per RS/QCM
  • Inspects, repairs and maintains tooling and test equipment
  • Performs skilled manual and technical work using hand tools, multi-meters and oscilloscopes
  • Maintains and organizes tooling and test equipment records
  • Maintains both manual and computerized files, making appropriate entries as required
  • Researches, identifies, and procures tooling and test equipment as assigned
  • Originates and tracks calibration and repair work orders for tolling and test equipment, monitors repair reports, and initiates alerts of possible tooling problems
  • Monitors the shelf life of dated material to ensure serviceability and compliance with company guidelines
  • Identifies and evaluates trends in tooling repair and calibration activities
  • Completes required documentation properly according to company policies and procedures
  • Ensures the work area is maintained in a clean, neat, and organized manner
  • Identifies, locates, and removes from service any tooling that is due for calibration, and ensures expedition of calibration as appropriate
  • Follows safety procedures and ensures use of appropriate safety equipment for the work being performed in the tool room
  • Works with Auditors, Customers and outside Vendors as required
  • Performs other duties as assigned

 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • High school graduate or equivalent. 
  • 2+ years of experience in a related position dealing with inventory. 

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • Additional related training or education.

  • Ability to use a pallet jack, utility knife, mobile shelving, carts, 10 key, and calculator.

WORK ENVIRONMENT: This job operates in a warehouse/airplane hangar setting, which requires the use of standard safety gear. The outdoor settings include parking lots and airplane runways. The noise level in the work environment is occasionally loud. Occasionally subject to varying inside and/or outside temperatures, which may include extreme heat (temperatures above 100 degrees) or extreme cold (temperatures below 32 degrees). 

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to a variety of extreme conditions.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit. Heavy Lifting; Exerting up to 100 lbs. occasionally, and/or up to 50 lbs. frequently, and/or 20 lbs. regularly.

 

TRAVEL: Travel is not expected for this position.
