Position Summary:

Under general supervision: this individual will maintain our tool room by grinding cutting tools in a controlled environment. This person must have great attention to detail and great organizational skills. Assists in the inventory of tools and supplies.


  

Essential Job Functions:

  • Sets up and operates tool room equipment: surface grinder, royal oak tool and cutter grinder, Darex drill grinder, wire EDM, optical comparator.
  • Inspects tools & equipment for damage; make repairs or recommends replacement of worn, damaged, or misplaced items; may make minor repairs to tools or gauges; maintains machines and equipment in good working conditions.
  • Must be able to read blueprints, sketches, models, or descriptions, and visualize product(s) to determine which tooling is best for the method.
  • Verifies dimensions, alignments, and clearances in accordance with specifications.
  • Maintains a variety of records related to materials issued, inventory, and stock control.
  • Assists with inventory by receiving and marking tools and equipment as well as stocking tool room area; loads and/or unloads supplies and equipment, as necessary.
  • Controls and correctly disposes of perished tooling.
  • Responsible for working in accordance with our engineering and quality departments, and for ensuring that products meet the customer’s specified requirements.
  • Maintains a clean and orderly work area using the 5S process and follows all safety policies and procedures.
  • May be required by Management to perform other reasonable work-related tasks.
  • May be required to work different shifts, hours, overtime, and weekends if needed.

Requirements

  • Technical Trade School or equivalent experience. 
  • Must have at least 2 years of machining manufacturing process experience. 
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and tool designs. 
  • Basic shop math, computer, and troubleshooting skills. 
  • Must be able to work any shift.
