About the Position

We are looking for a dependable and mechanically inclined Tool Room Assistant to join our team in a metal stamping manufacturing environment. This is a great opportunity for someone interested in developing hands-on skills in tooling, machining, and manufacturing.

The Tool Room Assistant will work alongside experienced toolmakers and manufacturing personnel to support the maintenance, preparation, organization, and repair of stamping dies, tooling, fixtures, and related equipment.

Key Responsibilities

Assist toolmakers with the assembly, disassembly, maintenance, and repair of stamping dies and tooling.

Clean, inspect, organize, and prepare dies, punches, inserts, fixtures, and tooling components.

Assist with die changes and tooling preparation for production.

Retrieve, stage, and return tooling and materials as needed.

Use hand tools and basic shop equipment safely.

Perform basic grinding, deburring, polishing, and fitting operations.

Assist with measuring and inspecting tooling components using calipers, micrometers, gauges, and other measuring equipment.

Help maintain accurate records and proper identification of tooling and components.

Keep the tool room and work areas clean, organized, and safe.

Assist with inventory of tooling, spare parts, and shop supplies.

Follow all company safety procedures, quality requirements, and work instructions.

Support toolmakers, maintenance personnel, and production as needed.

Qualifications

Required:

High school diploma or GED.

Mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn.

Ability to safely use basic hand tools.

Ability to read a tape measure and understand basic measurements.

Good attention to detail and organizational skills.

Dependable attendance and strong work ethic.

Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.

Ability to work effectively in a team environment.

Preferred:

Previous manufacturing, machine shop, tool room, or metal stamping experience.

Experience with calipers, micrometers, or other precision measuring equipment.

Basic blueprint or mechanical drawing reading skills.

Experience with grinders, drill presses, mills, lathes, or similar shop equipment.

Vocational or technical training in machining, tooling, maintenance, or manufacturing.

Physical Requirements

Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.

Ability to lift and move tooling and materials using proper lifting techniques and material-handling equipment.

Ability to work around manufacturing machinery, metal materials, lubricants, and shop noise.

Ability to wear required PPE, including safety glasses, hearing protection, and safety footwear.

Compensation & Opportunity

Pay: $18.00–$20.00 per hour, based on experience and qualifications.
