Job Summary

General Atomics Aeronautical Systems, Inc. (GA-ASI), an affiliate of General Atomics, is a world leader in proven, reliable remotely piloted aircraft and tactical reconnaissance radars, as well as advanced high-resolution surveillance systems.

Under general supervision, this position is responsible for providing tool and operations planning for a production project or larger independent project(s). Acts as the primary interface with manufacturing engineering, design engineering, quality assurance, manufacturing, test and shop floor to ensure manufacturing efficiency. Oversees and coordinates the investigation of discrepancies and develops and implements corrective action.

JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES 
  • Resolves manufacturing issues efficiently. Develops and expedites nonconformance reports and engineering change requests. Assists in maintaining ISO 9001 certification.
  • Develops and maintains illustrated work instructions.
  • Develops and maintains WDS work instructions within the Work Order Routing List.
  • Interprets engineering drawings and/or changes and determines effect to existing processes and parts.
  • Issues Tool Orders to make, alter or scrap tools as required.
  • Coordinates with manufacturing engineering to investigate discrepancies and develops corrective action.
  • Acts as the primary interface with manufacturing engineering, design engineering, quality assurance, manufacturing, test and shop floor.
  • Responsible for observing all laws, regulations and other applicable obligations wherever and whenever business is conducted on behalf of the Company.
  • Expected to work in a safe manner in accordance with established operating procedures and practices.
  • Additional Functions Other duties as assigned or required.
  • May require travel.

Job Qualifications

  • Typically requires a bachelor's degree in manufacturing technology or related field and three or more years experience in manufacturing planning. Equivalent professional experience may be substituted in lieu of education.
  • Must demonstrate a general knowledge of manufacturing planning practices, techniques and standards as well as general knowledge of MRP software systems.
  • Must demonstrate the ability to apply knowledge of concepts and principles of production to independently develop solutions to a variety of moderately complex problems.
  • Must possess:
    • strong organizational skills
    • the ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and blueprints
    • strong interpersonal skills and written and verbal communication skills that enable effective interface with all levels of employees in developing planning documentation and making presentations
    • ability to maintain the confidentiality of sensitive information
    • strong computer skills, including the use of Excel, Word and Access.
  • The ability to work independently and in a team environment is essential as is the ability to work extended hours as required.
