Description

Sets-up and operates machine tools such as manual mills, lathes, saws, and drill presses. Maintains and adjusts tooling to ensure production is efficient and meets or exceeds QA standards.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Set-up and operation of shop tools such as manual mills, lathes, saws, grinders, drill presses, sine plates, fixturing tools.
  • Preventive maintenance every 10 thousand shots on a mold.
  • Break down and set up all injection molds.
  • Maintains mold log and records any changes or repairs to the mold.
  • CNC operator skills for mill and lathe.
  • Verifies conformance of mold components to specifications, using measuring instruments.
  • Selects metal stock and lays out design according to dimensions computed from scale models or drawings.
  • Have understanding of multi-view drawings.
  • Uses hand tools to complete some tasks.
  • Demonstrates experience in surface grinding.
  • Report immediately all suspicious and hazardous conditions to a supervisor.
  • Understand and observe all safety guidelines and assure quality and safety by complying with all appropriate CB policies and procedures.
  • Assist in maintaining clean, orderly, and hazard-free work areas.
  • Able to work with minimal supervision, be a self-starter and be detail oriented.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications


To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to demonstrate the following competencies:

  • Able to hold tolerances of plus minus .002 inch.
  • Experience in reading drawings, understanding tolerancing.
  • Must be able to read and decipher measuring equipment, scales, and readouts.
  • Able to follow both written and verbal instructions.
  • Able to work with minimal supervision, be a self-starter and be detail oriented.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, divide, and calculate percentages; apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
  • Ability to operate a keyboard and perform basic computer functions.
  • Ability to write and read English.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

  • High School Diploma or GED, 2 years of experience in manufacturing.
  • Considerable knowledge of manufacturing process.
  • Making complex, precise adjustments to tools and equipment.

  • Moderate physical effort equals frequent lifting or moving of medium weight materials. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Use of hand/fingers continuously through shift to manipulate components, tools, etc.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Regularly required to sit or stand for the length of shift, bend, and reach.
  • Able to hear typical verbal instructions and common mechanical noises indicative of safe practices.

PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT:

  • The use of Safety Glasses is required.
  • The use of Latex or Nitrile gloves may be required.
  • Other Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) may be required. Dependent on machine specific requirements.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Work performed in a shop environment.
  • Occasionally exposed to any number of elements such as noise, heat, fumes, composites, adhesives, lubricants, and oil may be at levels which are disagreeable.
  • Works in and around moving machinery regularly.
  • May work at different machines needs as require or shift from one station to another.
