Tool & Die Tool Maker “B” - Assaria, KS
Great Plains currently has an opening for a Tool and Die B Tool Maker in the Assaria Engineering Department.
The schedule for this fulltime position is Monday through Thursday 6:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., plus occasional overtime, as required.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
- New construction and repair of a variety of tooling including injection molds, casting patterns, form dies, mill fixtures, rotational molds and misc. other tooling.
- Safely setup and operation of manual lathes and mills, drill press, hydraulic press, surface grinder, Haas lathe, Haas and Hurco CNC 3 axis mills.
- Ability to work with tooling designer, read & check tooling parts to prints & travel to production plants for tooling tryout.
- Travel to production plants to diagnose and correct production tooling issues
- May be required to machine weld fixtures and prototype parts for R&D on an as needed basis.
- Precision measuring tools are required for this position and will need to be purchased in a timely manner (tooling list can be provided).
Preferred Skills and Qualifications:
- 3 years of tool and die or machine shop experience preferred
- Must be a Strong Team Player & Self Starter with attention to details
- Mid-level experience to operate CNC 3 axis mills and CNC lathe
- Ability to read and follow prints and written instructions
- Ability to work to Great Plains tooling standards and processes
- Knowledge of press brake and punch press operation helpful
- Knowledge of selection, machinability & heat treating of tool steels helpful
- Must possess basic computer skills such as but not limited to Outlook, Excel & Word.
- Perform your duties everyday with Safety in mind at all times and follow all safety procedures implemented by Great Plains/Kubota
