Job Overview:

Responsibilities include the fabrication and repairs of precision tools such as die cast molds, stamping dies, precision jigs & fixtures. Set up and operate lathes, mills, saws, and surface grinders to produce tools.  Requires 3-5 years’ experience in machine shop environment.

Essential Functions: (essential functions, including how an individual is to perform them and frequency at which tasks are performed; the tasks must be part of the job function and truly necessary or required to perform the job)

  • Fabricate precision tooling and prototype parts using blue prints and sketches.
  • Troubleshoot and perform maintenance on sheet metal stamping dies. (Progression, single hit, and form dies.)
  • Responsible for final assembly and fitting fabricated components.
  • Operate CNC machinery in the fabrication of tooling and prototype parts.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area.
  • Assists Journeyman tool and die maker in the fabrication and assembly of precision tools.

 

Korn Ferry Competencies: 

 

 

  • Setup and operate machine shop equipment such as manual milling machines, lathes, saws, & surface grinders.
  • Understand and know how to use precision measuring equipment such as height gauge, gauge pins, and etc.
  • Ability to read and interpret blue prints.
  • Ability to operate CNC Machines using CAM software and conversational programming.
  • General shop math skills for print conversion and basic geometry.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Continue growth and understanding in machine shop practices utilizing available equipment.

 

Required education and experience: (education and experience based on requirements that are job-related and consistent with business necessity)

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Own basic tools required to measure and check machined components such as calipers, micrometers, etc.
  • 3 years’ experience in tool making
  • 3 years’ experience working in a machine shop environment

Preferred education and experience: (preferred education and experience based on requirements that are job related and consistent with business necessity)

  • Associate degree and/or technical certificate from an accredited institution
  • Experience fabricating weldments and/or fixtures using MIG and TIG welding practices.
  • Experience in the fabrication of sheet metal components using sheet metal shear, brake, and etc.

 

Additional eligibility qualifications: (additional requirements such as certifications, industry-specific experience and the experience working with certain equipment)

 

 

Special Position Requirements: (Any security, risk, hazard or related special conditions which apply to the position)

 

 

Physical Demands/ Equipment used to perform the job:

  • Must be able to frequently lift and move up to 50 lbs.
  • Able to work standing for up to 10 hours a day
  • Must have the dexterity to operate manual shop equipment
  • Able to work overtime as needed
  • Ability to concentrate and work in a loud work environment
