Job Overview:

Direct Hire – Journeyman Tool & Die Maker

Schedule: Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM

Position Summary

Our client is seeking an experienced Journeyman Tool & Die Maker to join their manufacturing team. This individual will support production operations through the construction, modification, repair, and maintenance of tooling, fixtures, gauges, and related equipment. The ideal candidate will possess strong machining skills, blueprint reading abilities, and a commitment to quality and safety.

Key Responsibilities

  • Follow all company safety procedures and utilize proper PPE and safe material-handling practices.

  • Communicate equipment, tooling, or quality concerns to supervisors to ensure timely resolution.

  • Support new product introductions from prototype through full production by collaborating with engineering and manufacturing teams.

  • Machine components to precise tolerances using a variety of conventional machining methods.

  • Build, modify, troubleshoot, and repair tooling, dies, fixtures, gauges, and prototype components used in production.

  • Participate in the development and improvement of tooling and manufacturing processes.

  • Perform preventative maintenance and maintain a clean and organized work area.

  • Conduct quality inspections using precision measuring instruments and interpret blueprints and specifications.

  • Utilize SPC data and inspection methods to verify product quality and process performance.

  • Work from prints, routings, work instructions, and other manufacturing documentation.

  • Set up and operate a variety of machine tools to complete tooling and machining projects.

  • Design and fabricate custom fixtures and tooling solutions to support production needs.

  • Assist with training and mentoring team members as needed.

  • Record labor and production activities within the ERP system.

  • Create sketches and drawings as required.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.

  • Completion of a Journeyman Tool & Die Maker apprenticeship program with current journeyman credentials.

  • Associate degree in a related technical field or equivalent experience preferred.

  • Strong understanding of algebra, geometry, and precision measurement principles.

  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and engineering drawings.

  • Welding experience or certifications are considered a plus.

Physical Requirements

  • Regularly lift, push, pull, and carry materials weighing up to 35 pounds.

  • Frequent bending, twisting, reaching, gripping, and grasping throughout the workday.

  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods, typically 8–10 hours per shift.
