Job Overview:

A confidential manufacturing organization is seeking a Journeyman Tool & Die Maker to support precision tooling and die operations. This position requires a current Journeyman Tool & Die Maker card and demonstrated expertise working independently in a high-precision toolroom environment.

The successful candidate will be responsible for interpreting technical documentation, setting up and operating machine tools, inspecting and maintaining stamping dies, and ensuring all tooling meets exact specifications. A strong attention to detail, accountability, and flexibility are essential.

Essential Functions

  • Read and interpret blueprints, hand sketches, and written or verbal instructions, or work directly from sample parts

  • Set up and operate conventional and CNC machine tools (including lathes, milling machines, and grinders) to cut, bore, grind, and shape components to precise dimensions and finishes

  • Verify dimensions, alignments, and clearances using precision measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, gauge blocks, and dial indicators

  • Inspect finished dies for contour accuracy, surface quality, and defects

  • Conduct test runs of completed tools and dies, making adjustments to ensure parts meet specifications

  • Maintain and repair stamping dies to ensure optimal performance and longevity

  • Accurately complete tooling documentation and maintenance records using internal company forms

  • Work independently with minimal supervision while maintaining a high level of accuracy and consistency

  • Apply metric measurement knowledge in all tooling and machining tasks

  • Support the Toolroom Supervisor with additional projects as required

  • Adhere to all quality, environmental, and customer-specific requirements

Position Requirements

Education & Credentials

  • Mandatory: Valid Journeyman Tool & Die Maker card

  • Completion of a recognized formal apprenticeship program or equivalent certified training

  • Minimum of five (5) years of hands-on toolroom experience

  • Exceptional precision and manual dexterity when performing high-risk, high-value machining operations

  • Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving ability

  • High level of safety awareness when operating machine tools and handling equipment
