We are looking for a Tool Designer, Direct Hire that pays up to $50an hour depending on your expierence.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop tool and die concepts based on customer specifications, manufacturing requirements, and production volumes.
- Create detailed engineering drawings, 3D models, and flat blank layouts using SolidWorks and LogoPress (Cadkey experience is a plus).
- Design punch press tooling, including progressive dies, stage tooling, and automated tooling systems.
- Build and test prototypes to verify functionality and manufacturability.
- Review customer drawings, CAD files, RFQs, and engineering specifications.
- Collaborate with CNC programmers, EDM operators, press brake operators, quality, and toolroom personnel to support production.
- Select tooling materials based on durability, performance, and cost.
- Troubleshoot tooling issues and implement design improvements to increase quality and productivity.
- Maintain engineering documentation and support continuous improvement initiatives.
Preferred Qualifications
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Tool Design, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field.
- Experience designing progressive dies, metal stamping tooling, or sheet metal fabrication tooling.
- Proficiency with SolidWorks, LogoPress, and CAD software.
- Knowledge of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing) and blueprint reading.
- Understanding of manufacturing processes including CNC machining, EDM, stamping, and metal fabrication.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
