Tool Designer

Position Summary
We are seeking an experiencedTool Designerto join our engineering and manufacturing team. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience designing precision tooling and strong proficiency withSiemens NX. This role will work closely with engineering, manufacturing, and production teams to develop practical, accurate, and manufacturable tooling solutions.
The successful candidate will combine strong technical design skills with excellent communication and collaboration abilities. This position is well suited for someone who understands both the design requirements and the real-world manufacturing considerations involved in producing precision tooling.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and developprecision tooling, fixtures, dies, and related manufacturing equipmentusing Siemens NX.
- Create detailed 3D models, assemblies, and 2D manufacturing drawings.
- Interpret engineering drawings, specifications, GD&T, and customer requirements.
- Develop tooling designs that meet functional, dimensional, quality, and manufacturing requirements.
- Collaborate with machinists, tool makers, engineers, and manufacturing personnel to ensure designs are practical and manufacturable.
- Review existing tooling and recommend improvements to functionality, efficiency, and manufacturability.
- Make design modifications based on manufacturing feedback, inspection results, and production requirements.
- Support the transition of tooling designs from concept through manufacturing and implementation.
- Troubleshoot tooling and design-related issues and develop effective solutions.
- Maintain accurate design documentation, revisions, and engineering records.
- Communicate project status, design considerations, and technical issues clearly to internal teams and stakeholders.
- Participate in design reviews and provide technical input on tooling concepts and manufacturing processes.
- Manage multiple projects and priorities while meeting established deadlines.
Qualifications
- Proven experience intool design, preferably within a precision manufacturing, machining, mold, die, or tooling environment.
- Strong proficiency withSiemens NXfor 3D modeling and tooling design.
- Ability to create and interpret detailed engineering drawings and specifications.
- Strong understanding of manufacturing processes and how they impact tooling design.
- Knowledge of GD&T and dimensional tolerancing.
- Experience designing tooling, fixtures, dies, or other precision mechanical components.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively with machinists, tool makers, engineers, production personnel, and management.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing accurate, high-quality designs.
- Ability to work independently while also collaborating effectively within a team.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience designing tooling for CNC machining and/or Wire EDM applications.
- Experience working directly with tool makers and machinists.
- Experience with complex, close-tolerance tooling.
- Familiarity with CNC machining, Wire EDM, grinding, and other precision manufacturing processes.
- Technical degree, certificate, or equivalent hands-on experience in tool design, mechanical design, machining, or manufacturing.
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate is ahands-on, technically strong Tool Designerwho understands how tooling goes from a CAD model to a finished product on the shop floor. You should be highly proficient in Siemens NX, comfortable working with complex tooling designs, and able to communicate effectively with both engineering and manufacturing teams.
Strong communication is essential—you will be expected to clearly explain design intent, listen to feedback from the shop floor, and work collaboratively to develop tooling that is accurate, efficient, and manufacturable.
