Tool Builder / Tool Maker
Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Tool Builder/Tool Maker to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 5 years of tool building and tool making experience, a strong work history demonstrating reliability and attendance, and the flexibility to work any shift as needed.
Training will be conducted on 1st shift, after which the successful candidate will transition to either 2nd or 3rd shift based on business needs.
Responsibilities
Build, assemble, repair, and maintain precision tooling, dies, fixtures, jigs, gauges, and related equipment.
Read and interpret blueprints, CAD drawings, engineering prints, and specifications.
Set up and operate manual machine tools including mills, lathes, grinders, drill presses, and surface grinders.
Perform precision fitting, grinding, polishing, and assembly of tooling components.
Troubleshoot tooling issues and perform repairs to minimize production downtime.
Inspect finished tooling using precision measuring instruments to ensure compliance with specifications.
Modify existing tools to improve performance or accommodate engineering changes.
Work closely with engineering and production teams to support manufacturing operations.
Maintain accurate documentation of repairs, modifications, and preventative maintenance.
Follow all safety procedures and maintain a clean, organized work area.
Qualifications
Minimum 5 years of experience as a Tool Builder, Tool Maker, or equivalent.
Strong knowledge of machining practices, tool steels, heat treatment, and precision measurement.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints and engineering drawings.
Experience operating manual machine shop equipment; CNC experience is a plus.
Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
Excellent attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.
Demonstrated reliability with a stable employment history and excellent attendance.
Ability to work overtime as needed.
Must be able to train on 1st shift and then work either 2nd or 3rd shift.
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for extended periods.
