Title: Tool and Gauge Inspector
Location: Independence, MO
Salary: Starting at $27.57/hr
Schedule: 4-10-hour shifts
Focus: As a Tool and Gauge Inspector, you will be responsible for ensuring the precision and reliability of measuring equipment by inspecting, calibrating and maintaining tools and gauges used in production.
Tool and Gauge Inspector Essential Job Functions:
- Calibrate and verify gauges, micrometers, calipers, optical comparators, and other instruments to ensure accurate measurements of critical features such a dimensional tolerances, angles, tapers and surface finishes.
- Inspect production tooling and machined parts to confirm conformance to engineering specifications.
- Record and maintain detailed inspection data, calibration records, and traceability documentation, ensuring compliance with quality management systems and regulatory requirements specific to ammunition manufacturing.
- Identify and remove out-of-tolerance tools, gauges, and machine components from service; initiate corrective actions such as repair, recalibration or replacement to prevent defect and production integrity.
Tool and Gauge Inspector Minimum Requirements:
- Minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum of one (1) year relevant experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment, including inspection of parts, tools and gauges.
- Working knowledge of basic algebra and shop trigonometry for calculating dimensions, angles and tolerances.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics and equipment manuals.
- Ability to use and read machinists measuring tools, such as micrometers and calipers.
- Ability to lift and carry materials weighing up to 100 pounds, including team lifts and use of support devices (hand cart, pallet jacks, gondolas, etc.)
- Ability and willingness to work any shift, including weekends and overtime.
Location-Specific Requirements:
- Must possess a valid U.S. driver’s license.
- This position requires successful vetting as an Employee Possessor in accordance with U.S. Department of Justice and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.
- This position requires access to ITAR controlled technical data, and as such, employment will be contingent upon the candidate's ability to access ITAR controlled technical data pursuant to an export license approved by the Directorate of Defense Trade Controls, if required.
- This position requires successful vetting for unescorted access in accordance with U.S. Army and Department of Defense access policies. The US Government does not allow non-US citizens on-site at the Lake City Army Ammunition Plant. Therefore, to be considered in the hiring process, the candidate must be a US citizen.
