Job Description
Direct hire opportunity for an experienced Tool and Die Maker Stamping to support a high-volume manufacturing operation in Skokie, IL. This role focuses on building, repairing, maintaining, and troubleshooting stamping dies, supporting both new die builds and ongoing production needs. Openings are available on 2nd and 3rd shift, with flexibility for 1st shift for the right candidate.
This position works in a toolroom and press environment and plays a key role in minimizing downtime, improving die performance, and supporting safe, efficient production.
Key Responsibilities
Build, assemble, and debug new stamping dies
Repair, maintain, and troubleshoot existing dies in the toolroom and in the press
Perform planned and unplanned die maintenance within estimated timeframes
Complete die changeovers to meet production requirements
Diagnose die issues and implement revisions or upgrades as needed
Read and interpret tool and die prints
Perform precision measurements and inspections to ensure part quality
Support apprentices and less experienced team members
Follow all safety, quality, and work instructions
Required Qualifications
Tool and Die Maker experience in a stamping environment
Strong knowledge of stamping dies, die construction, maintenance, and troubleshooting
Ability to perform trigonometric calculations and advanced shop math
Experience reading and working from tool prints
Familiarity with toolroom machines and safe operating practices
Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks
Basic computer skills
Safety-first mindset and clear communication skills
