Tool and Die Maker - EDM Operator

SFS Group USA, Division Automotive has a full time opportunity for a skilled EDM Set-Up Operator in our state-of-the-art Tool Manufacturing Department.   This position offers flexible day shift hours Monday through Friday.  SFS Division Automotive concentrates on specific, high-growth segments of the automotive market. Our products include components for ABS/ ESC braking, fuel injection systems, safety belts, airbags, sensors, seats, doors and much more!  

Job Responsibilities for EDM set up/ programmer

• Set-up and operate wire EDM to perform, tight-tolerance EDM operations on various tooling components utilized primarily in cold forming processes.
• Create new programs utilizing a combination of machine software, as well as an external software. Modify existing programs as needed.
• Select, install and dress wheels and complete all changes in set-ups, according to requirements on blue prints. The parts to be processed require selection of work holding devices, indicators, and other measuring devices to obtain correct alignment and concentricity.
• Apply expert knowledge of precision EDM practices to wire internal, external, straight and tapered shapes, to meet tight tolerances.
• Read and interpret complex blueprints and follow the instructions on job route plans. 
• Exercise a high degree of attentiveness to device set-up. All complex tooling geometries can be pulled from external software.
• Follow company safety regulations
• Use various types of precision measuring devices including digital gauges, comparators, micrometers and caliper to inspect work.
• Maintain a clean work area and keep up with basic maintenance tasks for the equipment.

Qualifications:

• 3+ years hands-on experience as wire EDM set-up/operator/programmer
• Knowledge of GF/ Agie-Charmilles a plus
• Prior experience setting up robotic loading systems a plus
