Job Description

Teledyne has a need for a machinist / tool & die maker to set-up and operate machine tools to fabricate drawn and punched parts. The role will also include maintenance, repair, design, and fabrication of dies and drawing tools necessary to fabricate these parts. The successful candidate will be a self-starter and bring strong organizational skills to the shop and be able to organize and catalogue tools in a manner that reduces setup time for everyone in the shop. Must have knowledge of design techniques, tools and principals involved in production of precision technical plans and drawings. Follows established procedures on routine work, minimal guidance on established procedures, requires instruction on new assignments. Must be proficient running lathe, end mill, grinder and be capable of measuring parts to .0001”.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

• Study drawings and specifications to plan operation.
• Verify dimensions, alignments, and clearances of finished parts for conformance to specifications, using measuring tools such as calipers, gage blocks, micrometers and dial indicators.
• Hand lathe, mill, punch press, high precision (.0001”) capability required
• Set-up and operate conventional or computer numerically controlled machine tools.
• Fit and assemble parts to make and repair parts per specification.
• Conduct test runs with tools to ensure parts meet specifications, making adjustments as necessary.
• Verifies conformance of finished product to specifications.
• Handles problems with moderate complexity; performs basic troubleshooting and identifies processes with minor error rates.
• Helps to identify and repair minor machine malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining, and adjusts machine controls as required.
• To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
• Organize and catalogue tooling.

Education and/or Experience

High School diploma and some degree of vocational or technical training and a minimum of 2-4 years of directly related experience.
