Summary of Job:
This position requires a high level of understanding of how plastic injection mold’s function and operate. Ability to repair & maintain tooling and fixtures for production & product development.
Essential Job Functions:
•Perform finish work on plastic injection molds.
•Fit and assemble standard parts into assemblies or mechanisms, using hand tools.
•Diagnose, isolate malfunctions, and perform simple repairs to molds and small tooling associated with those molds.
•Manufacture new mold components for mold repairs.
•Examine and modify molds as required.
•Responsible for maintaining a safe, clean, and well-organized workspace.
•Follows all safety procedures and regulations while handling machines, molds, any tools, and cleaning fluids associated with the maintenance and repair of molds.
•Operates all tool room machinery and equipment.
•Track times required to complete assigned tooling projects.
•Performs other duties as assigned.
Supervisory & Operational Authority:
No direct reports
Required Experience:
5-10 years Tool & Die Maker experience.
Required Education:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED) or equivalent work experience.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
•Expert experience with building plastic injection molds.
•Can quickly and proficiently interpret and use complicated prints (including multiple views and 3 dimensional details), specifications, sketches, charts, and tables.
•High level of motivation and efficiency.
•Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
•Ability to communicate across the tooling and production teams regarding the molds.
•Advanced knowledge in the use of tooling components, tool setter, gage blocks, micrometers, indicators, and other measuring tools.
•Advanced knowledge of operating manual machine equipment.
•Advanced knowledge of machine shop techniques.
•Can work independently as well as in a team atmosphere with minimal supervision.
•Ability to lift heavy objects.
•Ability to stand for extended periods of time and perform repetitious movements.
•Ability to fit and assemble or disassemble parts using hand tools.
•Must be proficient in shop mathematics and understand geometry and trigonometry.
•Proficient in most basic computer file \ folder operations, email, Microsoft applications (Word, Excel, Access)
•Knowledge of CAMWorks and SolidWorks is highly desired.
•Familiarity with Fadal, OKK, Micron CNC’s and Agie Charmilles EDM’s a plus.
