Job Title:                                CNC Machinist

Department:                          Tooling Build

Reports to:                             Tool Shop Manager

Job Summary: Under the direction of the Tool Shop Manager supports all process related activities and functions to build extrusion tooling systems. Schedule is Monday through Friday, 7:00am to 3:30pm.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 
 

  • Create machining programs using company provided CAD/CAM software.  Setup, check programs, and operate all CNC machining equipment.
  • Download, setup part, setup tools, and operate CNC machines.
  • Uses blueprints to the sequence of operations to manufacture the tool or die.
  • Proficient in the use of precision measuring devices such as calipers, gauge blocks, micrometers and dial indicators. 
  • Must exhibit a high attention to detail and be able to concentrate on physically demanding tasks. 
  • Strong ability to problem solve independently without direct supervision. 
  • Must be mechanically inclined and have above average mathematical skills. 
  • Perform daily, weekly, monthly, and yearly preventative maintenance on machines. 
  • Lift, position and secure machined parts on surface plates or worktables using hoists, vises, v-blocks or angle plates. 


 Supervisory Responsibilities: None.

Skills, Qualifications, Education and/or Relevant Experience: 

  • Technical school; or two to three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. 
  • Ability to work effectively with others as a team. 
  • Ability to communicate well with others. 
  • Strong organizational skills. 
  • Highly motivated,self starter, who can work without direct supervision.

 

Physical/Mental Demands: 

  • Displays consistent desire to do more than is asked to help coordinate processes in order to get the job done.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and time sensitive work that can change rapidly. 
  • Must be able to work while standing for long periods. 
  • Be able to lift and move heavy (70 lbs.) equipment and supplies. 
  • Able to work all shifts as needed.
