TIG Welder - Terrebonne - D141

Responsibilities:

• - Read and interpret blueprints, isometric drawings, P&IDs, welding symbols, specifications, and WPS to plan pipe welding requirements and procedures.- Prepare stainless steel pipe joints by cleaning (solvent/chemical wipe-down to avoid contamination), grinding, beveling, trimming, aligning, and fitting-up for proper root gaps and alignment.
  • Set up TIG welding equipment, selecting tungsten electrodes, filler rods (e.g., ER308L, ER316L), shielding/back-purging gases (argon/helium), amperage, and parameters to control heat and prevent oxidation, sugaring, or distortion on grades like 304/316.
  • Perform high-quality TIG welds, including open-root root passes, fill, and cap layers, in various positions (e.g., 1G–6G fixed/rotated) to achieve full penetration and meet codes (ASME Section IX, AWS, sanitary standards) and pass NDT (X-ray, dye penetrant, visual).
  • Weld stainless steel piping systems for corrosive, high-purity, or sanitary applications, ensuring defect-free beads with controlled heat input and clean appearance.
  • Inspect welds visually (using gauges, borescopes, calipers) for defects like porosity, cracks, or inclusions; repair as needed and prepare for non-destructive testing.
  • Conduct post-weld finishing (grinding, polishing, pickling, passivation) to restore corrosion resistance and meet sanitary/aesthetic requirements.
  • Maintain equipment, torches, and clean workspace to prevent stainless contamination; perform preventive maintenance and safety checks.
